Filler Injection
What is a filler?
It is a gel-like substance injected under the skin in some areas such as the cheeks, lips, nose, around the eyes, or jaw, to fill it, thus improving the skin's appearance easily instead of going for surgery.
Upon injecting, the filler fills the inner texture of these areas, changes the shape of the skin above it, and gives it a healthy and filling appearance.
Filler injection material varies according to the cosmetic objective, the injection site, and the desired result. Among its most popular uses are:
• Eliminating facial wrinkles and improving the appearance and vitality of the face.
• Improving face harmonization.
• Getting rid of any fine lines on the face, whether around the eyes, the lips, or the nose.
• Refilling facial areas that have decreased in size due to severe weight loss, helping to return the face to its natural and usual consistency.
• Filling the scars and vacant areas that may appear due to aging factors or sagging skin and significantly improving their appearance.
The most popular types of fillers used in the field of non-surgical plastic procedures are the following:
1. Calcium hydroxylapatite is a substance produced naturally within the bone tissue and can be obtained synthetically. One of its most important uses is to improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face. It is a very safe substance with no any serious complications. Its results last nearly a year. It is used to fill the lips and cheeks and to give them an attractive feminine appearance.
2. Hyaluronic acid is one of the most used types of fillers, and its results last from 6 months to a year. It is usually used to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles between the corners of the mouth and eyebrows or in the forehead or to fill in the holes that appear due to acne scars. Recently, it is applied to draw the corners of the lips, treat joint pain and inflammation, and reduce their severity.
3. The use of fats is very common among plastic surgeons, especially when performing body liposuction, as the removed fats are usually re-injected in the prolapsed areas of the face or the buttocks. The patient may often need more than one injection session. The results of the injections last between months and years, depending on the different nature of each case.
Filler injection results can also be permanent or temporary. One of the most popular filler materials that cause permanent results is silicone filler. However, a fair number of plastic surgeons warn of its results and the difficulty of repairing its defects if the silicone leaks, causing the inconsistent shape of the injection site. Plastic surgeons prefer temporary fillers, which give the best results with the least possible disadvantages that can be easily repaired if occur, unlike permanent fillers.

Filler injections are the choice among other plastic procedures:
Due to aging, many changes may appear on our skin that may disturb any woman, annoy her regarding her body shape and beauty, and weaken her confidence. Some of these changes are wrinkles or fine lines in the forehead or around the eyes, lips, or mouth. Many may try natural or herbal recipes or practice some exercise, and eat healthy food, but without improvement. So, specialized doctors recommend filler injections to restore beauty and confidence in every female.
Expected results after the filler injection:
Immediately after injecting the filler into the skin, the patient may feel pain, itching, or swelling at the injection site. These symptoms will often disappear within a day or two after the injection, and the final result will begin to appear.
Side effects that may result after injecting the filler in some people:
In general, filler injections are without any complications or annoying side effects that the patient may suffer from, but some people may suffer some symptoms such as:
• The appearance of a rash on the skin surface at the injection site.
• Disproportionate facial features after the injection, which includes the appearance of exaggerated swollen areas beside vacant areas due to the movement of the injection material from its indented site.
• Redness and exaggerated swelling or bruising at the injection site.
• Skin itching or inflammation at the injection site.
